Over the last few years, I have had the opportunity to visit New York City several times. Prior to these visits, the only time I had been to NYC was the August before September 11th, when I was too young to truly appreciate everything that constitutes the financial capital of America. During my most recent visit, I took the time to walk the Brooklyn Bridge, one of the prized engineering feats of the 19th century. From the Bridge, I was able to view Manhattan, its surroundings, and the many monuments from a distance. Whether it was the Statue of Liberty on one side, or the signature Midtown skyline including the Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building, I marveled at these monuments that have been symbols of the city and America as a whole for more than the past century.
